Creations

There are many devices and artefacts used in the stories. This page describes some of the simpler ones. Other pages in this group and on the website (Solunaria, Magical Energy Resonance and Collimation Amplifier, Magic Accumulators, Gossameric Transport, Broomsticks ) describe particular story elements and developments in more detail.
The Feuille
The feuille is a magical communications device. It is used for one to one speech communication between wizards. The feuille are skeleton leaves taken from a single tree which have been magically treated to resonate with that tree. A witch or wizard can purchase a personal feuille which is magically aligned to its owner. When the owner speaks the name of another witch or wizard who also has a feuille from the same tree then the two feuille resonate so that the two owners can talk to each other. Normally a feuille is covered in gold or copper to afford it some protection and most wizards keep their feuille in a protective box when it is not in use.

Mirrors
Magical folk tend to avoid mirrors as they confuse the magical sense. A mirror reflects light but does not reflect the emanations from the particles that a witch or wizard can sense. Hence when faced with a mirror the wizard's eyes see the optical reflection in the mirror but sense what is beyond the mirror with their magical sense. Getting between two mirrors is dangerous.
Mirrors also react to wizards and they can, if unused for a long period, produce semi-prophetic images when first exposed to light. Magical energy is unaffected by normal mirrors however it can be reflected by a suitable arrangement of crystal surfaces.

Anti-Magic Bullets
Devised by a renegade wizard, anti-magic bullets are manufactured by capturing the anti-magic energy from the Ayres Salamander. These bullets penetrate any magical defence and negate a wizard's powers. They can be used to great effect in magical battles.

God-stones
God-stones are normally statues of individual gods or goddesses taken from the Greek and Roman pantheons. They were imbued with magical energy by the ancient priests by sacrificing wizard children to the particular god. The statue takes on some of the power of the god and his or her special characteristics.
A god-stone dedicated to Bacchus, for instance, imbues a wizard with the ability to throw a really great party.
The Focusser Crown
Focus crystals enhance a wizard's ability to control magic and amplify its effects. The Focusser crown was made for the head of the Sechsäugigerwyrm, Otto Von Gisen, to enhance his personal power. It magnifies his power six-fold.
It was crafted by Anna-Lise Baldour from five amost perfectly identical focusser crystals which were made at the research station of the Geman magical division of the SS. The five crystals are pure quartz, she added a few rubies and sapphires as decoration: they are magically inert.
